★ Why India for Auto

Cost. Quality.
Scale.

01

$20B+ Industry

India auto component industry has $20B+ annual exports. Maturity at OEM and Tier-1 level is comparable to Germany or Korea.

02

IATF 16949 Density

India has the world's 2nd highest density of IATF 16949 certified suppliers after China — quality systems baked in.

03

Cost Advantage

15-40% cost savings vs Western Europe, 8-18% vs China for most ferrous components.

04

India Plus One

Many OEMs use India as the "second source" to China — same quality, geopolitically diversified supply base.

★ Frequently Asked

Auto sourcing
FAQs.

Do you support PPAP Level 3 / Level 4 submissions?
Yes. All Magnus IATF 16949 suppliers are PPAP capable up to Level 4 (full documentation submission). We coordinate PPAP package preparation including FMEA, control plan, process flow, MSA, capability studies, dimensional, material certs, AAR (Appearance Approval Report) where required.
Can you handle safety-critical components?
Yes. Magnus has 25+ suppliers approved for safety-critical work (steering, braking, airbag, seat belt). These suppliers maintain dedicated PPAP-controlled lines, full traceability per ISO/TS 16949, and TS-16949 Process FMEA. We also support functional safety per ISO 26262 ASIL classifications.
How does India compare to Mexico for US OEMs?
India is typically 8-18% cheaper than Mexico on landed cost for ferrous castings/forgings/machining. Mexico's advantage is shorter lead time (5-7 days truck vs 30+ days ocean). For high-value items, ocean cost-per-pound differential makes India compelling even after 30-day transit. Many US OEMs split: Mexico for time-critical, India for cost-critical.
What about EV-specific sourcing?
India's EV component industry has grown 10x since 2020. Magnus has 40+ suppliers building EV-specific components: battery pack housings, motor housings, BMS enclosures, charging port assemblies, busbars. Indian government PLI scheme has attracted significant investment into EV component manufacturing — costs are highly competitive.
